Edina wins 2MW CHP contract Eon’s Cranbrook energy centre

Eon has awarded another CHP contract to Edina, which will supply and install a 2MWe gas-fired combined heat and power (CHP) plant at Cranbrook Energy Centre, Devon, by the end of this year.

The £20m energy centre currently uses a 550kWe CHP unit to supply heat and hot water to the mixed use development, and the new engines will sit alongside it to deliver greater output.

Cranbrook’s district heating network, which Eon will also deliver, will transport heat generated from the energy centre’s CHP plant to homes and buildings, initially consisting of 2,900 residential properties, rising to up to 6,551 properties by 2027.

It is anticipated that the scheme will reduce CO2 emissions by 13,000 tonnes per year.

Edina announced last week that it had also been awarded the CHP contract for the Elephant and Castle redevelopment by Eon.
