Anesco goes Dutch with Shell solar deal

0

Anesco is to build two solar farms for Shell in the Netherlands, the firm’s first contracts outside the UK.

It will develop a 12MW scheme in Emmen, Drenthe province, and a 14MW farm near Heerenveen, Friesland. It will help Shell New Energies run them for two years before fully handing over.

Anesco and Shell’s New Energies division have worked together previously, on a battery storage project at the Bacton gas terminal in Norfolk.

Shell is aiming to be the world’s biggest power company within ten years and has outlined plans to decarbonise its fossil fuels business within three decades.

Anesco, which has developed more than 100 solar projects and around 150MW of storage  in the UK, is aiming for international expansion, an ambition kickstarted by its relationship with Shell.
