Gas terminal operator Dragon LNG has teamed up with solar developer Anesco to build a 35-acre PV farm on its land near Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire.
Seeking planning permission for the 9.9 MW park at Waterston is the Welsh firm’s first step in its transition to renewable energy.
Erection of the park’s ground mount arrays began last month. After commissioning due this October, the farm’s 18,500 panels will provide as much as 9% of the plant’s power requirement. Anesco will optimise its output once built.
At-risk examples of local flora and fauna will be protected under the farm’s arrays, as part of a habitat creation plan.

Receiving its first LNG cargo in July 2009, Dragon’s terminal consists of a jetty, storage tanks and regasification facilities, combined with gas export capabilities operating 365 days per year, meeting peak gas demand for millions of commercial and residential users.
At peak output, Waterston can feed 7.6 billion cubic metres of gas per year into the UK’s national transmission system.
