Arsenal FC has installed a 2MW/2.5MWh battery storage system and will add a further megawatt in summer.

The club will earn a revenue share from the battery with grid balancing profits to be split between the club, Pivot Power which installed the battery, and Downing LLP, which funded it. Open Energi will trade the battery’s flexibility and has already secured an FFR contract for the system.

The battery will also enable to club to lower power bills by avoiding peak charges.

Arsenal buys renewable power from Octopus Energy and has installed a range of energy saving measures, such as LED floodlights, and sends match day and food waste to an anaerobic digestion plant, where it is turned into renewable power to supply the club.
