Construction and facilities management firm Carillion has filed for liquidation.

The firm handled energy management, energy performance contracts and FM services across the public and industrial and commercial sectors.

The company had contracts with the Ministry of Defence and the NHS and some major contracts with local authorities. Private sector clients include Nationwide Building Society, Direct Line Group and Arriva.

Carillion also signed a £90m, five-year contract with Centrica in September 2016.

The firm’s collapse will have significant ramifications for suppliers and contractors.
