edgbaston-web-864x360Edgbaston Stadium has renewed Amber Energy’s consultancy contract for a further three years. The firm has been working as energy management partner at the cricket ground since late 2012.

Over that time, it has cut energy consumption by 29% against 2012/13 benchmarks, according to Amber CEO Nick Proctor, who commended stadium management for taking a long term view.

“The club strive for excellence on and off the field and it’s a joy to work with a management team who really believe in the vision for the club,” said Proctor. “The new agreement takes our relationship to seven years and we’re confident that the club will begin to stand out as a flagship for energy efficiency and sustainability best practice.”

The deal could also bring further commercial benefits to the consultancy: As part of the terms, Amber now has the opportunity to pitch ideas to Edgbaston’s 32 commercial partners.

“Amber Energy has been an outstanding partner of the club, not just commercially but by working with our stadium management team to review processes and the energy contracts that were in place,” said Gareth Roberts, commercial director at Edgbaston.

“With our busiest programme of major match cricket scheduled over the next three summers, it’s a fantastic time to renew the partnership and work with the Amber Energy team to deliver more stadium efficiencies.”

Edgbaston also recently signed a one year energy supply contract with Total Gas & Power, which will work with Amber Energy to deliver the stadium’s goal of becoming “the most socially responsible sports stadium in the UK”, according to Roberts.
