The Environment Agency has published a detailed guide to ESOS compliance, which supersedes previous Decc guidance.

The Energy Saving Opportunities Scheme is the UK’s implementation of article 8 of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive. It basically means all large companies (over 250 employees with turnover in excess of Euro50m and an annual balance sheet in excess of 43m) have to undertake a mandatory energy audit every four years.

There are various ways to comply with the scheme, which came into force last year. The 78 page document outlines routes to compliance and provides advice on how to go about it.
