Chinese EV manufacturer GWM Ora has appointed Scotland-based dealer Peter Vardy Group the first official retailer for its vehicles in the UK.

From November, customers will be able to visit the dealer’s showroom, located in Glasgow, to see and test-drive the Ora Funky Cat First Edition.

Peter Vardy will be opening additional GWM Ora UK retail and aftersales outlets in Scotland during 2023, including one in Edinburgh.

While there will be a big focus on physical retailers, Ora products will also be available to purchase through an online sales platform.

The Funky Cat will be available with a 48kWh battery offering a range of 193 miles.

It features comprehensive charging capability with Type 2, 6.6kW single-phase AC and 11kW three- phase AC charging as standard.

The vehicle also has a maximum of 80kW DC rapid charging and comes equipped with a CCS socket as standard.

Based on 15% to 80% charge status, 6.6kW home charging takes users about five to six hours.

GWM Ora UK, a brand owned by Chinese manufacturer Great Wall Motor, aims to establish a nationwide network of retailers.

Toby Marshall, Sales and Marketing Director, GWM Ora UK, said, “The appointment of our first official retailer is a huge milestone for the GWM Ora brand.

“I look forward to working closely with the team at Peter Vardy as we navigate our launch phase and continue to develop our retailer network across the country.”

Peter Vardy, Chief Executive Officer, Peter Vardy Limited, said: “As the first official retailer for the brand, we can’t wait to introduce the product to Scotland and get customers into vehicles.”
