Good Energy-backed Zap Map has officially launched its cross-network payment app for electric vehicle drivers.
Zap Pay is designed to work across all networks. The aim is to remove the need to juggle multiple apps and RFID cards and make payment easier for EV drivers. By using Zap Map, drivers can find a working chargepoint, use it and pay via a single app.
Rapid charging network Engenie is the first network to sign up, with ESB EV Solutions, LiFe and Hubsta set to follow. Zap Map said Zap Pay will be rolled out across UK networks in 2021. The firm is also developing a version for commercial fleets and said it will be rolled out over the next 12 months.
Good Energy owns a majority stake in Zap Map. The green energy supplier is pushing hard into EVs via its One Point B2B charging infrastructure business. It hopes to bundle charging infrastructure and renewable energy supply to both households and businesses.
