Government has extended a £5m electric vehicle (EV) smart charging invitation to tender for another two weeks due to coronavirus disruption.
Beis is procuring two projects to design, build, test and trial smart EV charging points that use the smart metering system for on-street and workplace charging.
Olev has proposed that the smart metering system – and therefore the DCC, run by Capita – is the main way to deliver non-public smart charging.
At the moment, the smart meter programme “in its current scope”, only extends to households and the smallest businesses.
So the ‘Beyond Off Street’ programme “aims to show that smart metering can perform smart charging in a range of contexts outside the current scope”, per the tender document.
Firms interested in bidding for the contract now have until 21 April to signal their intent. Details here.
