Ingenious Infrastructure invests in Reactive Technologies

Ingenious Infrastructure has invested an undisclosed sum in Reactive Technologies. The smart grid firm said it would use the money to fund global expansion.

Reactive Technologies operates in a number of areas. It is developing services for grid operators to measure and manage inertia, has a demand-side response or ‘optimisation’ platform for corporate energy users, and touts a ‘hybrid’ or enhanced PPA structure for renewable generators.

Alongside CEO Marc Borrett, its leadership includes two former Npower heavyweights in Volker Beckers (chairman) and Jens Madrian (CFO and CCO). The firm has also recently poached a number of senior staff from aggregators including Open Energi and Restore, as well as Engie.

Other investors include RES and Octopus Investments, which recently opened an Australian office, where Ingenious Infrastructure is active, as well as the UK and Europe. Ingenious also recently launched an energy services company (Esco), Argonaut Power, initially focusing on battery storage.

Borrett said Ingenious’ investment in Reactive Power “represents a significant financial step” for the company and would help to drive its “most expansive growth phase yet”.
