Irn Bru crosses rubicon with renewable power deal

AG Barr has signed a 10-year contract with Sweden’s Vattenfall to supply all of its UK sites with renewable power.

The firm’s most famous drink – made in Scotland from girders –  apparently does contain some metal, a miniscule amount of ammonium ferric citrate, a food additive containing iron hydroxide.

Barr also brews Rubicon, a fruity elixir beloved of nineties clubbers turned centrist dads.

According to the press release, Vattenfall will supply the drinks maker with 22GWh a year from its wind farms, to facilities including factories in Cumbernauld and Milton Keynes and regional sites across Bolton, Forfar, Newcastle, Sheffield, West Midlands and Manchester.
