Nissan has unveiled its new fully electric Townstar van, a replacement for the e-NV200.

The van, which is also available with a petrol engine, has an enhanced 44kWh battery, produces 245Nm of torque and has 177 miles of range – a 43% improvement over the e-NV200.

It features up to 4.3m3 of cargo space and can transport two Euro pallets and up to 800kg of cargo, while the powertrains allow the vehicle to offer a 1,500kg towing capacity.

In addition, the cargo area integrates large sliding doors on the side and 60/40 French doors with 180 degree opening at the rear.

There is also a dedicated space for on-board office tools.

Drivers of the fully electric Townstar will also have access to the Pro Pilot advanced driver assistance system that allows the vehicle to automatically slow to a full stop and accelerate by following the vehicle ahead, as well as keeping it centred in the lane.

The EV version comes with a pan-European eight-year or 100,000-mile battery warranty which includes bumper-to-bumper protection, paintwork guarantee, genuine parts and accessories as well as roadside assistance.

According to Nissan the electric Townstar combines “intelligent energy management and effective battery thermal cooling in one optimised package.”

Emmanuelle Serazin, Light Commercial Vehicle & corporate sales director, Nissan Europe said, “Offering two efficient powertrain solutions, ergonomic design and unique technologies, the all-new Townstar is comprehensively equipped to meet customers’ ever-changing needs.

“With tougher emissions standards, urban access restrictions, and ever-increasing demand for last-mile delivery, businesses large and small need to find effective and sustainable solutions to remain competitive and optimise their operations.”
