A new portable EV charger has now reached prototype stage and is on course to start deliveries to customers in early 2023.
The Go charger, developed by ZipCharge, is described as a power bank on wheels and enables EV drivers to charge wherever they park.
It is the size of a compact wheeled suitcase and delivers 20 to 40 miles of range in about 30 to 60 minutes, depending on capacity.
The charger can be stored in a boot or at home and charged anywhere using a standard domestic plug.
Using the retractable handle, users can then wheel it to wherever they have parked their EV and plug it into the charging port.
The company is expected to confirm final pricing in the fourth quarter of this year as part of the pre-order process.
ZipCharge is also building in machine learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its software, to learn user charging patterns, to make schedule recommendations and optimise charging to save money and reduce the load on the grid.
