Riello UPS rewarded for environmental excellence

Riello UPS, a manufacturer of uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and standby power systems, has been shortlisted for a major energy efficiency prize. The critical power protection provider has been named as a finalist in the Green Award category of this year’s Daily Post Business Awards, the annual celebration of the North and Mid-Wales business community.

Judges were impressed by Riello UPS’s ongoing commitment to improving the eco-efficiency of its products, with its transformerless uninterruptible power supplies now capable of achieving up to 97% efficiency.

The firm was also the first UPS manufacturer in Europe to introduce an Eco Energy Level classification rating the energy efficiency of its range on a scale of 1-6, enabling customers to make an informed choice about which UPS system will have the least environmental impact.

Riello UPS, which has held the ISO14001 international standard for environmental management since 2005, is officially carbon neutral having offset almost 210 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions in the last year alone. The judging panel highlighted its success in eliminating single-use plastics, its promotion of electric-powered company cars through on-site recharging points, and its ongoing championing of UPS battery storage as an alternative energy source.

Leo Craig, General Manager of Riello UPS, commented: “We’re a business that takes our environmental responsibilities extremely seriously, whether that’s through ongoing investment and R&D to ensure our products use the latest, most efficient technologies, or our team putting in place new processes that help to reduce waste and promote recycling in our day-to-day operations.

“We’re proud of this continued hard work to minimise both our and our customers’ environmental impact has been recognised with this nomination and are keeping our fingers crossed for the ceremony in a few weeks’ time.”

The shortlisting is the latest in a string of accolades for the Wrexham-based business. Back in May, it claimed the Data Centre Energy Efficiency Project of the Year prize at the Data Centre Solutions (DCS) Awards. Riello UPS will find out whether they’ve won the overall prize at the awards’ glamorous black-tie ceremony staged at Bangor University’s Prichard Jones Hall on Thursday 29 November. www.eventsnorthwest.co.uk/achievement-wales.
