Thousands yet to register Horizon 2020 grant details as Brexit looms

The government has urged public and private sector organisations in receipt of EU funding via the Horizon 2020 programme to register their details before Brexit.

Current funding for UK projects under the Horizon 2020 programme stands at around €1bn and the UK has received more than €5bn in funding to date.

The government has guaranteed to honour current grants in the event the UK leaves the EU without a deal in two month’s time – if organisations in receipt of funding register their details before March 29.

The department for business, energy and industrial strategy urged those with grants to register their details via a government portal. Some 5,500 organisations have done so, said the department, but it estimates around 2,700 are yet to register. Failure to do so would put their grants at risk.
