Anaerobic digesterBusiness energy supplier Total has launched a new green gas product for SMEs.

A spokesman said the gas comes from anaerobic digestion sources and that Total will back 100% of the customers’ consumption volume with green gas certificates from the Green Gas Certification Scheme (GGCS). “Some other suppliers are doing ‘partial green’ where they back a percentage of the customers’ supply with certificates,” he noted.

Total said the launch means customers can now opt for 100% renewable energy via its Eco-Energy line which already provides a 100% renewable power option.

According to Cornwall Energy’s rankings, Total is the largest I&C sector gas supplier and supplies some 100,000 UK business with energy.

The firm has also set out plans to become a major player in renewable energy and power generation.
