Motorway service station operator Roadchef has grown its EV infrastructure by installing six new ultra-rapid EV charging bays at its Hamilton Services site on the M74.
The bays are served by three ultra-rapid chargers that offer 360kW charging capability with CCS connectors, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of EVs.
This newly upgraded hub, which is situated between junctions 5 and 6 in Scotland, aims to drastically cut downtime for long-distance drivers on one of the country’s busiest motorway corridors.
Hamilton Services acts as a crucial transit point for motorists moving between Glasgow, Edinburgh and the north of England.
The new charging bays will also help meet growing demand for reliable ultra-rapid charging on a corridor where the UK’s network of rapid and ultra-rapid EV chargers has grown 16% over the past year.
As well as the charging facilities, Hamilton’s 24/7 services offer food and drink outlets, dog walking areas, shower facilities for HGV drivers, convenience retail and rest facilities.
Roadchef said the latest expansion bolsters its work in future-ready infrastructure across the strategic road network, helping deliver more accessible and reliable charging facilities for EV drivers nationwide.
