A three-pronged sustainability strategy focusing on fleet, buildings and waste is being launched by Ipsum Group, as the business ramps up its journey to net zero.
The leading provider of multi-technical services across the power, water, and infrastructure sectors is building on work already under way across the business as it looks to strengthen environmental data, cut emissions and reduce reliance on fossil fuels across its operations.
Fuel-related emissions across the vehicle fleet will be cut as electric vans are introduced alongside sustainable HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil), a renewable diesel replacement, reducing reliance on fossil fuels without disrupting operations on the road.
Reliance on grid electricity will also be reduced through a solar panel rollout across the business’s estate, cutting the carbon footprint of its sites and lowering long-term energy costs.
Emissions associated with waste and landfill will also be driven down through a partnership with specialists at Envirovue. The team at the technology-enabled waste management firm has delivered a detailed waste audit across Ipsum’s sites, identifying areas for improvement and shining a light on previously untracked waste streams.
Working closely with Ipsum’s field teams and subcontractors, Envirovue has implemented 100 percent landfill diversion and is establishing a robust recycling process, with live monitoring in place to track waste volumes and associated emissions as the partnership expands to further depots.
