British solar engineering company SolVe Innovations is celebrating its first anniversary of its SolVe Universal Mount, with 20,000 roof fixings distributed to installers across the UK since the product’s launch in November 2025.
The British-made mounting system challenges traditional methods of fitting solar panels to tiled and slate roofs. Instead of lifting tiles and installing conventional roof hooks and flashing, installers can secure the system directly into the roof structure through a precision-cut hole. The expanding VMQ silicone seal, seals against the walls of the core hole, creating a watertight seal without compressing or loading the roof covering.

Over its first year, the product has undergone two upgrades and is now supplied as a complete, pre-assembled unit, reducing the number of components installers need to handle on the roof.
The business has also introduced a free rafter finder app, available on the App Store and Google Play, to help installers locate rafters before drilling.
Thomas Moyes, Co-Founder of SolVe Innovations, said, “Having worked in solar installation, I knew there had to be a better way. Traditional roof mounting can be time-consuming, particularly on slate roofs, and every additional hour spent on a roof adds cost and complexity. David and I set out to engineer something that would make installers’ lives easier while improving on quality. We wanted a fixing that was strong, straightforward to install and built to last. We’ve seen an installation involving 400 roof fixings completed by five installers in less than one day, compared with three days using traditional methods. That’s the kind of difference we set out to make.
“Reaching our first anniversary with 20,000 mounts distributed is an important milestone, but what matters most is seeing installers adopt the system and benefit from it on real projects.”
The SolVe Universal Mount has already been used on major commercial solar installations, including a project at Petersfield Hospital. Solar installer SSC fitted 344 solar panels, delivering 208.1 kW of capacity, onto a Cambrian composite slate roof using 930 SolVe Universal Mounts without disturbing a single tile.
Samuel Strong of SSC said, “As a result of this experience, we at SSC have fully adopted the SolVe Mount system and have used it on every slate roof project since. By reducing installation time by more than 65% compared with traditional hooks and flashing, the system offers a clever, simple, and effective solution that is MCS-approved and British-made.”
Manufactured in Great Britain, the SolVe Universal Mount combines A4-80 high-strength marine-grade stainless steel with a VMQ silicone sealing system engineered to create a watertight fixing. The product is MCS 012 certified, with BBA Certificate 7460, and is designed for compatibility with MCS-certified rail systems using the appropriate connectors.  This new mount solution eliminates the need for angle grinding on compatible roofs, helping reduce installers’ exposure to potentially harmful dust, while its low-profile design delivers a cleaner, more discreet finish for homeowners.
The SolVe Universal Mount is available through solar wholesalers including Midsummer, UK Greentech, Edmundson Electrical and CEF, as well as directly from SolVe Innovations.
