Battersea power station is on track to start generating power again in 2020. The station will also generate heat and cooling.
After a major earth moving and engineering exercise to create the underground energy centre, Vital Energi has started the fit out.
The firm will oversee integration of three combined heat and power gas fired (CHP) engines (two 2MWe and one 3.3MWe), three 10MWth gas fired boilers, seven 60m³ thermal stores and six 4MWe chillers.
Works are set to complete next year, with scope for other local buildings to be connected to the heat network.
Battersea power station was taken offline in 1983.
