An absence of verified energy savings data is preventing CFOs from making green investments, creating challenges for low-carbon technology manufacturers and energy efficiency solution providers, according to energy monitoring solutions provider Cura Energy.

Cura Energy says it is seeing ‘a significant increase’ in enquiries from low-carbon technology providers and equipment manufacturers under pressure from CFOs to prove the impact of their energy efficiency initiatives. Without robust and independently validated energy data, these companies face hurdles in obtaining project sign-offs, secure payments, and building a strong business case for further investments.

Temporary energy monitoring

The solution to the ‘evidence problem’ is simple, says Cura Energy. The company says granular, real-time energy data from temporary monitoring solutions is one of the most cost effective (and non-invasive) – ways energy tech firms can demonstrate the success of their customers’ projects.

Cura Energy, which is a specialist sub-contractor offering end-to-end energy monitoring solutions, is increasingly asked to provide an independent energy data monitoring services within the cost of a project. This provides the end customer with an additional level of confidence that the data is correct.

Alternatively, Cura can work directly with the end user. Regardless of the contractual arrangement, independent collection and validation of the energy data is guaranteed.

‘Simple ways to evidence energy impact’

“We are concerned that so many low carbon technology and solution companies are struggling to prove the savings and impact they set out to achieve! There is a really simple solution to this problem – the installation of temporary energy monitoring,” says Carly Higglesden, our Managing Director at Cura Energy.

“Robust, accurate and independently verified energy data is at the heart of any successful energy project. With the right data collection and measurement methodology in place, we take an accurate baseline to evidence the effectiveness of energy-saving measures and verify anticipated savings. A full independent report that showcases the ‘before, during and after effects’ is provided so the customer can see a visual representation of the data as well as our findings. The data we collect can also be used to support the business case for scope-extension and future projects.

“We urge low carbon technology manufacturers and energy efficiency solutions companies to download our new guide and talk to us if they recognise this challenge in their businesses. We want to help resolve these challenges for them and make it easier for their customers to see the true impact of efficiency upgrades and projects”.
