National charging network Be.EV has installed a 15-bay ultra-rapid EV charging hub at the Decathlon Stockport sports store.
The site is the largest ultra-rapid charging facility in the area, and is located minutes from the M60, benefiting local residents, Decathlon shoppers and commuters passing through.
These ultra-rapid chargers can add up to 165 miles of range in a 20-minute stop, compared to several hours on a 7kW fast charger – and matches Decathlon’s customer dwell time of about 30 minutes.
Decathlon Stockport also has a PAS-compliant charging bay.
The launch of the hub will be marked on 8 September with a half-price charging deal which applies to drivers who use their Be.EV app between 12pm and 2pm.
Experts will also be on hand to speak to drivers about vehicle-to-load technology, and how to use their EVs to power appliances at home and on camping trips.
Be.EV is the north’s largest public EV charging network and the majority of its chargers are located in the North West.
Asif Ghafoor, CEO and founder of Be.EV, said, “It’s an honour to bring ultra-rapid, ultra-convenient EV charging to Decathlon shoppers, and provide Stockport with a new, reliable way to charge vehicles.
“Charging hubs like these are required nationwide if the country is to successfully transition to cleaner transport, and Decathlon is leading the way when it comes to EV charging in the EV space.
“Other retailers should take note. As more and more people choose to drive EVs, they’ll naturally gravitate to destinations where they can conveniently charge their car whilst shopping.”
