Believ is rolling out its EV charging network across Telford & Wrekin, with 200 new chargers to be installed at 35 key public car parks in the area.

Charge points are now live at several locations in the borough, including Wrekin Road car park, where 10 have been installed.

They include a mix of Standard Plus chargers for longer stays and overnight charging, as well as Rapid chargers for shorter visits including shopping and dining.

The network will expand to 124 charge points funded through the On-Street Residential Charge point Scheme (ORCS) with Believ fully funding an extra 76 chargers.

In addition, Believ will install, operate and maintain all charge points, supporting Telford & Wrekin Council’s plans to cut emissions and boost the borough’s visitor economy, particularly at destinations such as Ironbridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Councillor Carolyn Healy, Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for Planning, Neighbourhoods and Sustainability, said, “This is an exciting milestone in our work to decarbonise transport and make sustainable travel more accessible to residents and visitors.

“Partnering with Believ and using government ORCS funding has allowed us to efficiently roll out a high-quality EV charging network for our residents, especially those that do not have on-street parking.

“Believ’s fully funded offering means we have been able to install scalable EV charging infrastructure across the council.”

Guy Bartlett, CEO of charge point operator Believ, said, “This partnership between Believ and the council will provide much-needed charging infrastructure to help local residents transition to electric vehicles, and we’re excited to see the positive impact it will have on the local economy and the environment.”
