More than 2,100 new public EV charge points are to be introduced across Warwickshire as part of a new investment project.
In a partnership that includes Leicestershire County Council, Rutland County Council and Worcestershire County Council, EZO has been appointed to deliver at least 73 rapid charge point sockets, while Connected Kerb will provide 2100 additional lower-powered charge point sockets.
The consortium of councils was supported by Midlands Connect, the region’s sub-national transport body, in awarding the contract.
Meanwhile, the programme is funded through the Government’s Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) Fund, which aims to accelerate the rollout of local, primarily low-power, on-street charging across England and drive greater commercialisation and investment within the UK’s EV charging sector.
The deal will unlock £3.295 million from the Department for Transport (DfT), alongside about £15 million in private investment, to install new EV chargers.
It will therefore help ensure Warwickshire delivers high-quality, well-placed and future-ready charge points, supporting residents and businesses as the transition to EVs continues to gather pace.
