BP Pulse has opened a new EV charging hub located a five-minute drive from Stansted Airport.
The new site at its Stansted SF Connect retail site, just off the A120, features three ultra-fast 300kW chargers which are each capable of charging two cars simultaneously, providing a total of six charging bays.
Customers can also use on-site amenities while waiting for their vehicle to charge, such as BP’s Wild Bean Cafe or the M&S food store.
This setup – and the speed of the ultra-fast chargers – is intended to maximise convenience for those on the go, including airport travellers and taxi drivers.
It is part of a broader strategy from BP Pulse to significantly expand its charging network and support the growth of the UK’s EV infrastructure.
Currently, more than 150 of BP’s UK retail sites already have charging bays.
However, BP Pulse said barriers remain to delivering charging infrastructure for EV drivers, including securing high-power grid connections and planning permissions.
Akira Kirton, CEO at BP Pulse UK, said, “The launch of this new charging hub is yet another step in our commitment to expanding our charging network and supporting the expansion of the UK’s EV infrastructure.
“The site’s close proximity to Stansted Airport makes it the ideal choice for travellers and taxi drivers who need a quick and convenient charge.”
Also, last month, BP Pulse opened a new rapid and ultra-rapid charging hub to serve visitors to the M&S store in Cheshunt.
Eight charge points with a total of 18 connectors are able to charge up to 10 EVs simultaneously.
Two of the devices offer both CCS and CHAdeMO charging connectors, and a charging rate of up to 150kW.
