British Gas orders 1,000 electric vans

British Gas has ordered 1,000 electric vans from Vauxhall.

The UK’s third largest fleet operator said the Vivaro-e vans will be delivered over the next 12 months and that the order is the UK’s biggest to date.

Parent company Centrica said it will order more vans as soon as they are available as it bids to decarbonise its 12,000-strong fleet within ten years.

Vauxhall MD, Stephen Norman, said he is “delighted” with the deal.

British Gas MD, Matthew Bateman, said the firm had chosen to work with the manufacturer “as they were able to give us a large number of high-quality and low emission vans to help us effectively serve our customers – and they will also work with us on future EV solutions”.

  1. No gas and they will soon stop probably have to have Hybrid electric vans to carry equipment, pipes etc. unless they use contractor who use non polluting vehicles. Then British Gas cannot be green unless the contractors are green.

  2. Seems a bit of a waste of money to me. They won’t have any customers left before long with the way they are treating them and using covid as an excuse.
