Charge point manufacturer Compleo UK has secured a £1.2m contract to install a range of AC, DC and high-speed EV chargers to support Islington Council’s fleet of more than 550 fully electric vehicles.

Most of the new chargers will be installed at the council’s waste and recycling centre at Cottage Road, Islington, which serves as a hub for its operational vehicles.

The first EV chargers will start to be installed in early 2025 and the project is due to be completed within a two-year period.

Oxfordshire-based Compleo UK specialises in manufacturing AC and DC EV charging hardware and EV software technology, providing future-proof solutions for commercial, public and fleet EV charging needs.

The hardware systems are brand-agnostic ensuring its chargers work with a wide variety of back-end platforms.

Compleo UK customers include APCOA, Network Rail, Oxfordshire County Council and Opcharge.

Matthew Downs, Head of Business Development at Compleo UK said, “We’re thrilled to support such a forward-thinking council such as Islington.

“They are always looking ahead for sustainable solutions and we’re proud to supply them with future proof EV charging solutions”

Councilor Rowena Champion, Executive Member for Environment, Air Quality and Transport, said, “We’re committed to creating a greener, healthier Islington, and this partnership with Compleo is a vital step in reducing our carbon footprint and improving air quality for our residents.
