Conrad Energy and Ivegate have officially broken ground on a 1.5MW on-site solar project for Belton Farm, marking a major milestone in Belton Farm’s commitment to sustainability.

Belton Farm is a trailblazer with its commitment to sustainability and the environment. It was one of the first cheesemakers to run a carbon footprint programme both at a business level and with its local farmers. Between 2009 and 2021, it saw a 48% reduction in its total emissions, despite cheese production increasing year on year.

The new solar project is expected to reduce Belton Farm’s carbon footprint by 350 tonnes of CO2 next year. Through a power purchase agreement, Belton Farm will also benefit from energy cost savings, all from a renewable, dedicated asset.

Conrad Energy comments that it’s proud to partner with Belton Farm as they take another big step toward a sustainable future.

Conrad Energy, a leading UK energy company which generates, buys, sells and manages energy, previously announced the signing of a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Belton Farm.
