Evolt Charging has installed a new EV charging hub in Tewkesbury town centre featuring eight 7kW AC chargers that are designed to serve two bays simultaneously.
The hub is located at Spring Gardens car park, which hosts the town centre’s market every Wednesday and Saturday.
Chargers have been installed with accessibility in mind and include lowered charging sockets and full compliance with the latest PAS 1899 standard.
The chargers are supported by Evolt’s 24/7 customer service team, and maintenance software, to ensure real-time monitoring, remote diagnostics and rapid response support.
Evolt Charging, which is a brand of Swarco Smart Charging, has more than 13,000 commercial charging points installed across the UK, ranging from AC to ultra-rapid DC chargers.
Cllr Cate Cody, Lead Member for Climate and Ecology, Tewkesbury Borough Council said, “The EV charge points will attract new customers to the town, as well as enticing tourists to stop off and visit our historic town and the charm of the nearby riverside.
“It sends the clear message that anyone can visit without the anxiety of whether they can recharge.
“Supporting residents and businesses to move away from petrol and diesel vehicles, which are the leading contributor of greenhouse gases in the Borough, is a key element of the Council’s aim to reduce these harmful emissions in the Borough and improved air quality.”
Justin Meyer, Managing Director of Swarco Smart Charging, said, “We’re pleased to support Tewkesbury Borough Council with our highly reliable charging solutions and dedicated service and maintenance support.
“This new hub, in the heart of Tewkesbury town centre, provides local residents and visitors with much needed access to convenient and reliable EV charging.”
