IONITY has opened a public EV High-Power charging (HPC) station at the Holiday Inn on the A1 in Doncaster.
Located on the A1(M) corridor at Jct. 36, the site is equipped with six 350kW HPC stations and is the first of six planned similar sites, with new facilities to be rolled out across the UK throughout this year and 2025.
The chargers are open to everyone, and offer hotel access to passing travellers with amenities including a Café to Go, high-speed WiFi, toilets, and a fully equipped gym.
By integrating high-power EV charging with hotel services, the site creates a versatile space that serves not only overnight guests but also EV drivers and travellers.
IONITY, which exclusively uses renewable energy, has a growing network of more than 600 charging stations and 3,700 charging points across 24 European countries.
Andreas Atkins, IONITY’s Country Manager for the UK and Ireland, said, “We are excited to launch our first site with Holiday Inn in Doncaster A1, bringing together high-power charging, hospitality, and a welcoming space for everyone.
“This innovative partnership represents a new chapter in the way we think about sustainable travel, making EV driving easier and more convenient while also creating community hubs that everyone can enjoy.”
Dr Sanjiv Patel, CEO of Mayfield Hospitality and Westgate Healthcare, which owns Holiday Inn in Doncaster said, “We are proud to partner with IONITY to bring high-speed electric vehicle chargers to Doncaster.
“This initiative aligns perfectly with our strategy of supporting innovation and advancing our commitment to sustainability.”
