European ultra-rapid network Ionity has announced that it will be the first charge point operator (CPO) to procure the newly unveiled HYC1000 chargers from Alpitronic for its network.
This new megawatt charging system features a central power cabinet that distributes power to up to four dispensers, each equipped with two charge points.
It allows for the simultaneous charging of up to eight EVs, with dynamic power allocation per charge point – or a single vehicle charging at up to 600kW.
They are capable of adding up to 186 miles of range in less than eight minutes with compatible vehicles.
Ionity will start to extensively evaluate the HYC1000 hardware at its test site close to Munich in May, and it then plans to roll-out the chargers across its network in the second half of 2025.
Founded in 2009 and headquartered in Bolzano, Italy, Alpitronic is a specialist in high-power charging solutions for EVs.
Jeroen van Tilburg, CEO of Ionity, said, “By integrating the HYC1000 chargers, we’re giving our customers access to some of the fastest and most advanced charging technology available today.
“We’re not just keeping up with innovation – we’re leading it, building the infrastructure of tomorrow.
“This integration marks another key milestone in our mission to deliver ultra-fast, convenient charging at scale for EV drivers across Europe.”
Philipp Senoner, CEO of Alpitronic, said: “With the HYC1000, we’re introducing a new era of scalable ultra-fast charging – combining megawatt-level performance with intelligent power distribution.
“We’re proud to partner with Ionity to bring the next level of charging performance to EV drivers across Europe.”
