Ash Green School in Coventry has today unveiled a new £70,000 energy management installation to reduce consumption and costs at the school by around a third over the next four years.
YLEM Energy which designs, builds, operates, and maintains on-site smart energy systems for businesses and organisations, will roll-out its optimise energy management platform across the school’s maths block.
The secondary school academy in Coventry is a large estate and has buildings of varying ages, from late 1800s construction through to modern facilities that house the main school reception, offices and classrooms.
Following a technical assessment, YLEM Energy Optimise identified opportunities to upgrade the maths block’s energy controls, gas monitoring and reporting facility, to help it better manage usage, improve site efficiency and make significant five-figure annual savings.
Andy Hill, technical solutions manager of YLEM Energy Optimise, said, “Schools and other education facilities face increasing pressure to reduce energy costs and save money in the current climate. By reducing carbon emissions they can redirect crucial funds from utility costs back into classroom teaching and student resources.
“Our new energy installation provides the smart technology needed for Ash Green School to gain greater visibility and control over its energy usage, whilst deliver meaningful cost savings that support its wider sustainability targets.”
James Nadin, regional facilities manager at Ash Green School, added, “We’re hugely committed across the school to reducing energy consumption both from a financial and environmental perspective. We’ve invested heavily in renewable energy over the last few years, having launched a large solar facility that utilises our large roof-top spaces.
“This new installation further builds on that success and transforms how we manage energy usage and leverage real-time and historical data to identify waste and inefficiencies. It’s another key step towards helping us achieve our sustainability targets.”
