Osprey Charging Network has introduced Autocharge technology, allowing customers to start a public charging session simply by plugging in their EV, removing the need for physical cards or mobile apps
The company’s Osprey Go product, which allows drivers to plug in and walk away, with charging starting automatically and the best available price for that location and time applied, has been developed in-house via Iris, its proprietary software platform.
It is underpinned by dynamic pricing, which Osprey is extending across its network this month as part of Osprey Go.
Customers who charge outside peak periods get lower rates for the same ultra-rapid charging experience – an advantage for EV drivers without off-street parking or home charging access, who rely on the public network for the majority of their charging needs.
Osprey’s in-house team of developers and product specialists trialled the feature extensively with a beta testing group of real drivers ahead of its wider rollout to all app users.
The company has confirmed it is also exploring Plug & Charge capability for future release, which would add a further layer of interoperable, vehicle-based authentication for compatible vehicles.
