Stellantis unveils new EV platform

Stellantis has unveiled its new STLA Medium EV platform, which will provide the basis for a variety of electric cars, crossovers and SUVs – including the Peugeot e-3008 due in 2024.

Set for launch later this year, the new platform will be used to underpin up to two million vehicles per year and will enable a range of more than 435 miles with a Performance battery or 310 miles with a Standard pack.

Vehicles based on the platform will be available with front- or four-wheel drive with the addition of a second electric drive module at the rear, with battery electric vehicle (BEV) power output ranging from 218hp to 387hp.

The platform uses a 400-volt electric architecture anddrivers will be able to charge their battery from 20% to 80% in 27 minutes, a rate of 2.4 kWh per minute.

STLA Medium is the first of four global BEV platformsfrom Stellantis which include Small/Medium/Large/Frame versions.

They are also engineered to be future proof, modular and flexible in design, with provision for future battery chemistries, including nickel- and cobalt-free and solid-state batteries. 

Stellantis brands include Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, DS Automobiles, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Opel, Peugeot, Ram, Vauxhall, Free2move and Leasys.
