Thermal Management Solutions Group appoints industry expert to strengthen focus on electrification

Thermal Management Solutions Group has appointed Lawrence Davies MBE as a Non-Executive Director to spearhead its transition to a supplier focused on EVs.

Davies brings more than 35 years of global automotive experience with him to the role at the Reading-based company, having been Director of Purchasing and Supply Chain at General Motors UK.

He was CEO of the UK Trade and Investment’s Automotive Investment Organisation (AIO), and when the AIO became the Automotive Team in the Department for International Trade (DIT), Davies became its Chief Advisor.

He is a fellow of the Institute of Procurement & Supply, and is also a fellow of the UK Government Be the Business (BtB) mentoring programme.

Davies was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s 2016 New Year’s honours list for his services to the automotive industry.

Thermal Management Solutions Group is a leading automotive thermal management systems provider, including the Wahler, Magal and Dauphinoise Thomson brands, and has plants in France, Germany, Brazil, USA and China.

In early 2021 the group completed the acquisition of Arlington Thermal Management Division to create a thermal management company with a global footprint.

Often buried deep within cars, Thermal Management Solutions Group products allow vehicles to perform at their thermal optimum, ultimately helping OEMs achieve their global emissions reductions goals.

Mark Franckel, Thermal Management Solutions CEO, “Our group brings together an unparalleled pool of technical experience and delivers exceptional global market position and depth to provide both existing and new customers and suppliers with numerous advantages in navigating these exciting times in the automotive sector, and we’re confident that Lawrence will help support us in our goals.”

Davies added, “Thermal Management Solutions Group is incredibly well poised to enable automotive customers to not only transform their powertrain offerings and meet the demand for lighter, more fuel-efficient vehicles, but crucially it will quickly become the go-to supplier for thermal management products in zero-emission vehicles.

“To make this a reality, I will provide the group with industry experience and contacts to help ensure that the correct support is in place for it to really prosper.”
