Vertiv, formerly Emerson Network Power, has acquired Geist, a privately owned manufacturer of Rack Power Distribution Units (PDUs) and associated data centre power products. This is the second significant acquisition of 2018 for Vertiv, which announced the purchase of Energy Labs in January 2018. The acquisition of Geist solidifies Vertiv market position in Rack PDU products, while Energy Labs has boosted Vertiv’s position in the air handling space.
With the two acquisitions, Vertiv adds engineering, design and manufacturing capabilities and diversifies its portfolio to better meet the needs of cloud and colocation providers and edge applications, while expanding its reach with commercial and industrial customers.
“We are pleased to complete this acquisition and continue to add options for our customers in the cloud, colo and edge spaces,” said Vertiv CEO Rob Johnson. “The acquisitions of Geist and Energy Labs will allow us to offer more diverse, comprehensive solutions for our customers and will play an important role in our continued growth as a company.”
Geist is a global company headquartered in Lincoln, Nebraska, and has more than 250 employees. Geist president Brad Wilson will continue as manager of the business, reporting to Pat Johnson, executive vice president of integrated rack systems for Vertiv.
