Chinese manufacturer Xpeng has opened its first UK dealerships in Nottingham and Southampton to coincide with the introduction of the firm’s G6 battery-electric SUV.

Built on Xpeng’s smart electric platform architecture (SEPA) 2.0, the G6 delivers 286 PS with a range of up to 354 miles (WLTP).

Also, the 800V high-voltage architecture enables the G6 to recharge from 10% to 80% in less than 20 minutes, using a 280kW charger.

Inside, its minimalist cabin includes a panoramic glass roof, central touchscreen interface and an AI-driven operating system.

Xpeng’s proprietary XNGP driver assistance system, equipped with LiDAR and high-resolution cameras, also brings advanced semi-autonomous driving capability.

The company is aiming to have between 20 to 25 retailers live by the end of its first year in the UK, supported by strategically located aftersales hubs to give customers peace of mind and nationwide coverage.

William Brown, Managing Director of International Motors, Xpeng’s chosen UK distributor partner said, “The opening of our first UK retailers and the arrival of the Xpeng G6 is a crucial moment for our business and for British car buyers.

“The G6 is an advanced, premium all-electric SUV, perfectly sized for UK roads. It has been designed and developed to redefine consumer expectations, with everyday real-world usability that has been honed to exceed the requirements of owners and drivers, without compromise.

“An important central pillar of the Xpeng brand is to create products that customers can feel proud to buy and own.

“Opening our first UK retail site is a major milestone, but it’s just the beginning. It’s all about building a seamless ownership experience from day one.”
