Fleet solutions provider, Rivus has installed 45 new electric charging points across nine of its sites in the past month, including Leeds, Bristol, Southampton, Heathrow, Manchester and Enfield.
By the end of 2022, the firm plans to complete installation of charge points at 30 of its sites, providing more than 150 new charging points, each enabling five vehicles to be charged overnight in technician bays.
Funds have come from the government’s Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) workplace charging scheme (WCS) which covers up to 75%, or up to £350 of the total costs of the purchase and installation of EV chargepoints.
Rivus has more than 1,300 employees, manages about 220,000 service bookings each year and operates from 78 sites nationwide through its LCV and HGV combined Garage Network.
It also has 500 Rivus Approved Garage Partners and a UK wide team of 100 mobile technicians equipped to support fleet managers with service, maintenance and repairs.
Sarah Gray, head of Alternative Fuel Vehicles at Rivus, said, “As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting customers with the decarbonisation of their fleets, we are undertaking a phased rollout to upgrade all our garages with additional electric vehicle charging capabilities.
“If an electric vehicle is in and needs diagnosing, it needs charging and a technician with the relevant skills to assess and repair. Therefore, we are investing now in our infrastructure and the training of our technicians so we can deliver the best service and equipment for our EV customers.
“This is a significant investment as well as a huge practical undertaking, with some major logistical challenges. However, we are keeping all our garages open as normal throughout the works. The only downtime will be outside working hours and at weekends, so customers will not be inconvenienced at all.”
