Clean energy company egg has joined forces with Northampton Town FC to supply green power to the Club with solar panels and electric vehicle charging points. This marks the first football club supplier for egg, who have plans to roll out similar offers to multiple football clubs across the UK over the next 12 months.

Based on Northampton Town FC’s usage, property and business requirements the project will see 132 solar panels fitted, with the switch to solar predicted to save the club nearly £7,000 in the first year. This is the equivalent of a carbon offset of 183 round trips to rivals Peterborough FC and back on the team coach.

As an English Football League (EFL) Green Club, Northampton FC are actively progressing through the EFL’s Green Code by adopting greener energy solutions.

Mike Hallam, CEO, egg said, ‘Football clubs are fast becoming the sustainable energy leaders in the sports world, showing us best practices when it comes to solar and EVC.  Our work with Northampton Town FC is enabling more sports clubs to follow. We are with a business every step of the way; from initial consultation to long after installation, our no nonsense approach is providing clean energy to more people who want to make the switch. We’re proud to support Northampton FC and to be able to help them in their vision to become more sustainable.’

James Corrigan, Commercial Director from Northampton FC commented, ‘We’ve worked closely with the egg team to find the right solution for the club, for its players and most importantly for its supporters. As more people make the switch to electric vehicles, we want to be able to support them on their journey to being more sustainable.’
