Warburtons has taken delivery of its first Yutong TE7 7.5t electric truck from Pelican Electric Trucks – a major milestone in the firm’s plans to electrify its 170-strong fleet of 7.5-tonne vehicles.
The first of seven Yutong TE7 trucks ordered by Warburtons will begin delivering fresh bakery products to stores across Yorkshire from the company’s Wakefield depot.
It follows a successful trial of the TE7 earlier this year and represents the next stage in Warburtons’ strategic programme to reduce emissions from its transport operations.
The second vehicle is due to join the fleet shortly.
Warburtons has selected the 132kWh battery version of the TE7, offering a range of up to 180 miles on a single charge.
This Yutong TE7 uses proven Yutong electric vehicle technology and is designed specifically for the demands of urban and regional distribution.
The 7.5t electric truck is available with 100kWh and 132kWh battery options.
Warburtons’ battery-electric fleet has been in operation since 2021, and complements its existing fleet of CNG tractors.
