Arnold Clark has installed over 240 ultra-rapid electric vehicle charge points in Scotland and England, making it cheaper and easier for drivers to charge on the go.

As part of a £30 million investment, the Group has launched its own bookable ultra-rapid charging network, Arnold Clark Charge, which will see over 500 EV chargers installed at over 100 locations across the UK.

There will be up to eight rapid chargers, with the ability to charge up to 150kW, installed at Arnold Clark branches. All Arnold Clark app users will have access to the Arnold Clark Charge network, which will be available to book safely and securely, with most sites being 24/7 accessible.

Drivers will also be able to enjoy great-value, ultra-rapid charging at a rate of 55p/kWh, compared to 81p/kWh* on other networks.

Eddie Hawthorne, Chief Executive and Group Managing Director of Arnold Clark, said, “As electric vehicles become more and more common on UK roads, we know that our charging infrastructure needs to develop and grow to meet these increasing demands.

“That’s why we’ve heavily invested in our very own bookable ultra-rapid charging network across the country: Arnold Clark Charge.

“The new charging hubs will allow customers to charge easily and safely while on the go, while saving money.”

To begin charging, customers simply need to download the Arnold Clark app, create an account or log in, and then sign up to Arnold Clark Charge. They can then book a charge at a time or place that suits them.

As electric vehicles become increasingly popular with motorists, Arnold Clark Charge is a significant infrastructural investment that will support drivers as they make the switch – helping to make range and charging anxiety a thing of the past.

And with the 2035 ban on new petrol and diesel vehicles drawing ever closer, it also marks another important step for Arnold Clark as they look to prepare customers for the upcoming shift to electric.
