BYD has extended the warranty of the Blade Batteries in its cars to eight years or 250,000km – making the switch applicable to existing vehicles as well as new purchases.
These cars already feature a basic-coverage warranty of six years or 150,000km, along with a 12-year, unlimited-mileage anti-perforation warranty and cover for the electric drive unit of eight years or 150,000km.
Now BYD has increased the mileage limit on the specific warranty for the Blade Battery to 250,000km, while retaining the existing duration of cover at eight years and a guaranteed minimum State of Health (SOH) of 70%.
This mileage increase is designed to further strengthen user confidence in its vehicles – and it will apply to not only new cars but also all existing BYD models.
Existing European owners with a BYD EV or Super Hybrid will automatically benefit from the expanded coverage.
The Blade Battery combines high-strength materials and advanced energy-management systems.
It is made using lithium iron phosphate chemistry (LFP), a technology that offers greater safety, durability and sustainability, while eliminating reliance on valuable materials such as nickel and cobalt and reducing environmental impact.
After intensive load and endurance testing, the Blade Battery has been proven to exceed 3,000 charge and discharge cycles, with a service life equivalent to 1.2 million kilometres.
The battery delivers 570km in the combined cycle for the BYD Seal Design.
Meanwhile, with the battery, the BYD Sealion 7 Excellence AWD has a maximum DC charging power of 230 kW and can charge from 30% to 80% in 18 minutes.
A spokesperson for BYD said the Blade Battery “sets a new standard in safety, reliability and performance”, delivering “significant driving ranges.”
