E.ON Drive opens ultra-fast EV charging hub in Wales

E.ON Drive has opened its first ultra-fast EV charging hub in Wales, with ten 300kW charging bays potentially providing up to 150 miles of range in ten minutes.

The Cross Hands hub off the A48 between Carmarthen and Llanelli, which has 1.5MW of charging capacity, can charge ten vehicles at a time.

It fills a critical 20-mile gap in the region’s EV charger network, making charging more accessible for drivers travelling on the M4 to Carmarthen and beyond.

Designed with both innovation and accessibility in mind, the hub features two wider accessible bays, along with a level, kerb-free surface.

In addition, the entire site is equipped with CCTV and lighting, and includes biodiversity enhancements such as an insect hotel.

It is also listed on all major EV charging apps, including the E.ON Drive UK app.

Dev Chana, Managing Director of E.ON Drive Infrastructure UK, said, “This hub is a major milestone, not just for Wales but for ensuring the UK is more joined up and better equipped for a future powered by electric vehicles.

“Our latest charging hub at Cross Hands highlights our commitment to driving innovation in cleaner motoring and offering sustainable and accessible solutions for drivers across the country.

“E.ON operates thousands of charging points right across Europe and Cross Hands is the latest part of a bigger drive to expand our EV charging network across the UK.

“This is first of many hubs we have planned in Wales, part of a far wider expansion across the UK and another example of our commitment to creating greener infrastructure across the country.”
