Europcar Mobility Group UK is expanding its EV fleet with several hundred Tesla Model 3s for long-term business rental and Mercedes-Benz EQB 350 SUVs, initially available from Heathrow Airport.
These join existing EVs, part of Europcar’s ‘One Sustainable Fleet’ programme, which aims to have at least 20% of its vehicles emitting less than 50g/km by the end of 2024.
Europcar is also upgrading its branch network with charging posts to further support this goal.
The new EVs will give businesses and their drivers the chance to experience EVs in real-world conditions before committing to lease or outright purchase.
Long-term EV rental at Europcar is available for a minimum of three months with no upfront deposit and commitment-free and includes vehicle handover and charging instructions support.
In addition, drivers get charging cables, a Shell Recharge card and app, providing access to more than 10,000 publicly accessible charge points across the UK and access to Tesla Superchargers for Tesla rentals.
There is also optional CO2 reporting for insight into emissions reduction and a range of home, roadside and workplace charging solutions through Europcar’s partnership with Shell Recharge Solutions.
Ron Santiago, Europcar managing director, said, “Before making fleet decisions which will have big financial implications it makes sense to ‘test’ every aspect of electric mobility.
“But a short test-drive, even if it’s for a week or more, doesn’t really deliver the insight businesses need to understand the true impact of using an EV.
“The Europcar long-term rental solution tackles this challenge and our plan to add models across different price points gives fleet managers more choice to find the right fit for their business.”
