The North West Hydrogen Alliance (NWHA) announces the addition of three new members, Schneider Electric, Storengy UK, and Endress+Hauser.

With these additions, NWHA’s membership rises to the highest since its founding in 2018, marking a significant milestone for the organisation as it builds a collaborative ecosystem to deliver the UK’s hydrogen future.

This announcement follows the recent publication of the NWHA’s landmark 2025 Power Report, which sets out a blueprint for unlocking hydrogen-powered electricity and calls for urgent Government action to accelerate hydrogen infrastructure and business model development.

Dave Richardson, Interim Chair of NWHA and Decarbonisation Solutions Director at Costain, said, “It’s a privilege to be announcing three new members of the Alliance to coincide with the release of our 2025 Power Report, where we called for the Government to unlock Hydrogen to Power and drive net zero. With new members Schneider Electric, Storengy UK, and Endress+Hauser UK, the NWHA is growing constantly, facilitating connections across the hydrogen industry in the North West, and striving to deliver clean growth and energy resilience.”

Schneider Electric, a global leader in industrial automation and decarbonisation, has joined the NWHA to lend its expertise to the region’s low-carbon transition.

Greg Fearn, Process Automation Sales Director UK&I at Schneider Electric, commented, “Schneider Electric is proud to join the North West Hydrogen Alliance, reinforcing our commitment to supporting the decarbonisation of the UK’s industrial clusters and the growth of the hydrogen economy. As a global leader in industrial automation, and with decades of collaboration alongside customers at the heart of the HyNet cluster,we’re excited to contribute our expertise in delivering the region’s low-carbon energy ambitions.”

Schneider Electric has a longstanding footprint in the North West’s industrial landscape, particularly at the Stanlow Refinery and across the gas pipeline infrastructure, and is actively supporting hydrogen projects across the region.

Storengy UK, part of ENGIE, brings expertise in large-scale energy storage. It operates the UK’s largest onshore gas storage site, its Stublach Plant near Northwich, and is developing the HyKeuper Project—an innovative hydrogen storage facility that will support regional decarbonisation.

Paul Snary, Hydrogen Director, Storengy UK, said, “We’re delighted to join the North West Hydrogen Alliance at such a pivotal time for the region’s hydrogen economy. Storengy UK is committed to enabling the energy transition, and we believe large-scale hydrogen storage will be critical to unlocking the full potential of low-carbon hydrogen. We look forward to collaborating with NWHA members to help deliver a resilient, flexible and decarbonised energy system.”

Endress+Hauser UK who are based in Manchester, are a leading supplier of products, solutions and services for industrial process measurement and automation. The company brings its extensive experience in measurement technologies that support hydrogen production, transport, and storage.

Wes Allen, Power & Energy Industry Manager, said, “We are passionate about low carbon technologies like Hydrogen & CCUS and want to help decarbonise the North West using our expertise, experience and range of instrumentation suitable for these processes. Partnering with the North West Hydrogen Alliance gives us the opportunity to support industry in their decarbonisation and sustainability goals.”

The NWHA will continue to grow its network of cross-sector partners in the lead-up to Hydrogen Week 2026, taking place between the 18-22 May 2026. The annual Delivering the Hydrogen Economy event is planned to take place at The Spine, Liverpool on Tuesday 19 May. The event will bring together policymakers, project developers, and industrial leaders to showcase the North West’s role in advancing the UK’s hydrogen economy.
