Ovo aims to unlock 12GW of flex from domestic storage heaters

February 28, 2019 By Brendan Coyne Leave a Comment

Energy company Ovo, recipient of a £216m investment from Mitsubishi Corporation, plans to unlock the flexibility of the UK’s 1.7 million homes with electric storage heaters.

It has struck a partnership between its intelligent grid technology company Kaluza and Glen Dimplex Heating and Ventilation and will start installing smartgrid enabled storage heaters and radiators into customers homes.

Dimplex has a 90% share of the UK electric storage heating market.

Ovo said the UK’s 1.7m storage heaters could provide 12GW of flex.
