Lift company Schindler UK has started the switch to electric vans by taking delivery of 15 Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo models from leasing and fleet management specialist Athlon UK.

The vehicles have been supplied by Volkswagen Van Centre Sheffield and feature a livery from Media Fleet along with racking solutions from Sortimo for use by technicians.

Schindler already has an ‘EV First’ policy for its company cars, resulting in 100% of its car fleet being pure electric.

The company recently appointed Athlon as its preferred fleet provider, building on a long-standing collaboration within its international fleet.

Through their Fleet Management solutions and a vigorous vehicle selection process, Athlon have successfully reduced Schindler’s administrative burden.

David Haynes LCV Business Development Manager for Athlon UK, worked closely with Paul Jackson, Schindler UK’s Fleet Manager, to ensure a seamless integration of fleet management and leasing solutions.

Jackson said, “With the support from the Athlon team, Schindler have been able to significantly reduce the time spent on administration and management of our fleet.

“While our company cars are already at 100% electric, Athlon have been incredibly supportive in assisting Schindler on the commercial vehicle EV journey.

“We look forward to continued support from Athlon in supporting Schindler to achieve our sustainability targets with our commercial fleet.”

Lesley Slater, chief commercial officer at Athlon said, “We are delighted to support Schindler in their journey towards a greener future.

“These electric vans are just the beginning of our relationship as Schindler transitions to a fully electrified commercial fleet.”
