Socomec has today announced the launch of its SMARTSYS energy storage range, introducing two new BESS solutions: the SMARTSYS C260 and SMARTSYS M5000. Designed to support a wide range of applications – from commercial and industrial sites through to large-scale infrastructure – the new product family integrates remote monitoring with battery data analytics dashboards, flexible operation and simplified installation to help organisations adapt to rising energy challenges.
The SMARTSYS C260 is a compact, all-in-one cabinet system combining power conversion and battery storage, while the SMARTSYS M5000 is a battery containerised solution paired with a MV conversion SKID, designed for large-scale installations including grid and energy infrastructure projects. Together, the SMARTSYS range enables a broad spectrum of BESS applications, from behind-the-meter energy optimisation to larger scale grid services.
The SMARTSYS C260 delivers 125kVA with 261kWh of storage capacity in a new, compact design, with a footprint half that of previous models. Suited to commercial and industrial environments, including EV charging sites and buildings with on-site renewables, it supports both on- and off-grid operation and can be deployed in parallel configurations of up to 1MVA/2MWh.
At the upper end of the range, the SMARTSYS M5000 extends Socomec’s offering into utility-scale energy storage, supporting higher-capacity deployments for grid services and large-scale energy management for DSOs, TSOs, and independent power providers. The system comprises a 5MWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery container and a medium-voltage SKID integrating the PCS, control cabinet, switchgear and transformer, all pre-mounted on a purpose-built metal structure. It is available in configurations ranging from 2.5MVA/5MWh up to 5MVA/20MWh.
Across both systems, the SMARTSYS range combines embedded battery data analytics (BDA) via SOCOMEC’s SoLive Pro BESS digital monitoring platform. This allows BESS operators to track system performance in real time and take targeted actions that can extend battery lifetime by up to 20%, improve system availability by three to five percent annually and unlock up to 15% additional usable capacity – reducing the total cost of ownership and helping to improve the returns on energy storage investments.
SMARTSYS systems are designed to be easy to install and commission, allowing organisations to deploy energy storage faster in response to rising demand. Meanwhile, integrated safety features address both physical protection and cybersecurity. Fire safety is ensured through a multi-layer protection design compliant with the most stringent international standards, while cybersecurity is reinforced through secure communication protocols and SOCOMEC’s proprietary cloud platform, enabling protected data exchange, remote access and system supervision.
“As energy demand becomes more complex, operators need storage that delivers not only capacity, but also visibility and control,” said Elodie Hestin, Energy Storage Solutions Marketing Manager at Socomec. “With SMARTSYS, we’ve applied our long experience in Battery Energy Storage Solutions to develop products and services that are both intelligent and built for long-term operation, giving operators greater confidence in how they run energy storage systems and the sites they support.”
Socomec will showcase the SMARTSYS range at Intersolar Europe in Munich between 23rd–25th June. The C260 model will feature on the show floor alongside a preview of the M5000 and an on-screen showcase of its new remote monitoring service SoLive PRO BESS with enhanced Battery Data Analytics capabilities.
