Trane launched its new Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) rental offering, now available across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) as well as Australia and New Zealand.
Leveraging Trane Technologies’ in-house engineering expertise and advanced refrigeration technology, the new large-scale containerised BESS units are engineered to support customers by storing energy and providing reliable power during periods of peak demand, fluctuating rates, or potential grid instability. This fully autonomous battery pack provides efficient, quiet and flexible electric power in temporary and permanent installations, including cold storage containers and small heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) installations.
The BESS 200 unit expands Trane Rental Services power solutions portfolio as the company’s first battery storage system housed in a robust, 10-foot container, offering fuel-free battery capacity starting at 230kWh and 50kW output. Integrated within a container featuring Thermo King refrigeration technology, the system can operate in a wide range of ambient temperatures, from -30°C to +50°C and offers IP55 protection class for enhanced durability.
Available for short- or long-term rental, without the burden of long-term investment or asset management, the Trane power solutions offering also includes traditional diesel gensets, hybrid genset-battery set-ups, and fully electric and modular battery packs, starting with compact 35 kWh units.
“As we see a growing need for energy storage solutions that support temperature-controlled equipment, we designed a solution to provide customers with greater operational flexibility and control over their energy costs and carbon footprint,” said Grigory Ulubabyants, services product manager at Trane EMEA. “By enabling flexible, emissions-free power for cold storage, HVAC, and other temporary or remote applications, we help customers adapt to changing energy demands and operate confidently beyond the limitations of the grid.”
Ideal for peak cost shaving and navigating dramatic regional energy price fluctuations, Trane’s new rental BESS solutions empower customers to store energy during low-cost periods and deploy zero-direct-emissions power when demand is highest. With flexible rental options, customers can avoid substantial capital investments, control operating costs, and reduce direct carbon emissions on sites ranging from remote cold storage to urban construction projects.
All Trane battery systems can be equipped with advanced telematics, providing real-time information and alarms that keep customers informed and ensure uninterrupted operations.
